'Do the Zoo'!
2026 Update
Two of our bee colonies are working at the zoo this summer! This is our fourth year at the zoo! The hive on the left is a package of bees from Spring Valley Farms in Perry - they already have one super full of honey, which is not normal - but we gave the bees a head start by giving them drawn comb, which helps them immensely. The colony on the right has a queen from our Des Moines apiary, and she is going gang-busters - look at all of those supers with honey! The nuc in the middle is a colony developing for next year - it has an open-mated queen from our Des Moines apiary.
